Krakow City Break

Legend has it that the city of Krakow was founded upon a slayed dragon! This mythical legend has added to the cities vibrant atmosphere and stunning architecture. From the Wawel Castle and the charming old town, to the former Jewish Quarter and the vast Rynek Glowny, Europe’s largest market square. You will be left in awe of this city.

Rynek Glowny

Rynek Glowny is the main market square in Krakow and the largest in Europe. Taking centre stage here is the Cloth Hall, effectively the world’s first shopping mall. Built in the 14th century the big Cloth Hall is still crammed with stalls selling goods from amber to woodwork.

Delve under the market square and encounter the long forgotten Rynek underground chambers. This fascinating museum is where the ‘Middle Ages meets 21st Century’ the experience is enhanced by holograms and audiovisual wizardry.

Food & Drink

Krakow comes alive in the evenings with cellar bars, restaurants and jazz clubs. In the Old Town there are over 300 bars to choose from. Head to Harris Piano Jazz bar for smooth sounds in an underground cellar, or try Wodka Cafe Bar to test the national tipple, serving up homemade concoctions in every flavour of vodka imaginable. Enjoy the Polish cuisine and visit Krakow’s oldest eatery, Wierzynek Restaurant.

Kazimierz is the Jewish district of Krakow. During the second world war this district was badly destroyed but has now been transformed into a trendy neighbourhood packed with historical sites, individual cafes, craft beer bars and laid-back galleries.

Christmas Markets

The Rynek Glowny provides the setting for Krakow’s Christmas Markets. Largely filled with wooden stalls offering a variety of gifts from local delicacies to traditional tree decorations and local crafts.

Auschwitz-Birkenau was the largest of Nazi Germany’s concentration camps. The complex consisted of 3 main camps. Auschwitz I was the administrative centre, Auschwitz II (Birkenau) was the extermination camp and Auschwitz III (Monowitz) was the work camp.
